Inspired by Japanese distinction and the art embodied in the world of whiskey, Master Blender Sandy Hyslop traveled to Japan in search of the finest Mizunara oak barrels. After visits to a Japanese cooperage and meeting with Master Cooper, they jointly agreed on the exact specifications of the barrels and established a relationship that remains strong to this day. The porous nature of Mizunara oak results in a greater influence of taste than the barrel, which means a wonderfully enjoyable result in the house’s classic whiskey. The barrels bring a range of soft aromatic flavors to the blend, ending with a touch of spices. With a distinctive taste that leaves a trace of hazelnut, Chivas Mizunara is a truly unique blend. Some of this blended Scotch whisky has been finished in Japanese Mizunara oak barrels for an aromatic finish
