The name Green Spot came from the family’s practice of Mitchell marking barrels of different ages with a stain of colored paint. Originally there was “Blue Spot”, “Red Spot” and even “Yellow Spot”, but Green Spot emerged as their most popular whisky and is one of the few “whiskey bonder brands” that have survived to this day. Single Pot Still whisky is unique to Ireland in general and to Midleton Distillery, Co. Cork, in particular, and is regarded as the quintessential Irish whiskey. Made from a blend of malted and unmalted barley and then triple distilled in traditional copper stills, Pot Still whiskies are characterized by complete, complex flavors and a wonderful, creamy mouthfeel.
