Since its founding in 1779, Kinahan’s has been known for its innovative and unusual approach to maturation, creating new and unconventional flavours in whiskeys with a particular focus on wood. What we’re focusing on today is exactly what Kinahan’s focused on nearly 240 years ago – using rare types of wood and provenance as a key source of flavor and character that continue to push boundaries.
Wood as the main source of all taste. The way wood is aged and treated makes the difference. The wood used in all custom-made barrels undergoes 36 months of drying before creating the barrel and scorching.
TERROIR = The taste comes from the barrel, the barrels come from the wood, the wood comes from the trees and the trees come from the soil that gives it its properties. The origin of the tree helps create a different flavor effect on whiskey. It allows us to focus on origin as a source of natural flavor.
Hybrid barrels. Custom-made, handmade, rare wood species. Much of Kinahan’s whiskey portfolio is exclusive to them and is not available anywhere else.
