It comes from a poor soil, calcareous of sandstone (solid rock) and marl (sedimentary formation) of the marine upper Cretaceous period. Acidity of the terroir and poor rainfall are compensated by the sea breeze of the Bay of Bandol. Dark red color. Complex nose with aromas of red fruit, wild strawberry, leather and notes of spices – as well as a cool licorice feel. In the mouth it is tangy, and round tannins contribute to the sweet feeling.
DOMAINES OTT
The vineyard needs its time and people who work with wine often dedicate their whole lives to it. That’s how it was and remains with Marcel Ott, his children and grandchildren. Year: 1896. Ott, an Alsatian agronomist engineer with a pioneering spirit, decided to create a wine-making estate. First attempts: Cavalaire region. But it was in 1912 at Château De Selle, Clos Mireille and later Château Romassan, also located in the Var area, that this great family adventure finally began. Many years of patience and effort. Each estate for the most part consists of stony soils. The principles that stood for cultivation and that were inspired by respect for nature were not set aside. Fortunately, the land is grateful and rewarded their respect by making excellent quality wines born. Since 1930, Cœur De Grain rosé has crossed borders and today the elegant and established wines produced by DOMAINES OTT can be found in the best restaurants around the world. In 2004, with over 100 years of experience, DOMAINES OTT got married to the CHAMPAGNE LOUIS ROEDERER group. A true alliance is being formed around these workers of high-class wines.
