In 1875, in the Great Dublin Fire 5000 barrels of whisky stored in Malone’s customs warehouse suddenly caught fire. The story goes that it was the lonely howl of a “burning pig” that raised the alarm, saving the town and whiskey. Over a hundred years later, Irish whiskey Flaming Pig was born in honor of the “pig who saved Irish whiskey”.
Flaming Pig is the brainchild of Joey and Flor, two friends of the beverage industry from Ireland, who saw a gap in the market for a simple Irish whisky that offered more flavor and character than ordinary brands.
Flaming Pig is a blend of Irish single malt and grain whisky, made richer and spicy, with an added smoky flavor, by the intense charring of barrels. After blending, the Flaming Pig whiskey matures in the heavily burnt barrels for 6 months, and then comes to the fore.
