This wine was dedicated to the name “Abderus”, son of the god Hermes from Opunta in Locris. According to Greek mythology, the demigod Hercules built the city of Abdera in Thrace in memory of his friend, Abderus, when he was killed in battle with the wild horses of the king of the Thracians, Diomedes. The label characteristically depicts the wild horse of Thrace. It is a special blend of two Greek (the oldest Greek variety, Limnio, meets the rare Pamidi) and a foreign variety (Syrah from France). Syrah gives primary aromas of red fruits (freshness) while Limnio with barrel passage for 8-12 months gives peppery aromas as well as notes of cocoa and tobacco. The mouth is soft, with soft tannins and moderate acidity. A wine filled with a pleasant finish.
